Peter's Bio
Peter Davis Krahenbuhl is an internationally recognized sustainable tourism development expert. As Co-founder and former President of US and UK based Sustainable Travel International (STI), he helped develop and grow a start-up organization into a global industry leader. Now as an independent consultant, he continues to implement and advise regarding sustainable tourism solutions for small travel providers to multi-national companies, as well as communities, governments and destinations. Peter is one of the world’s leading experts in eco-standards, certification and indicator development, as well as implementation and assessment.
Peter’s leadership experience in the corporate arena includes advising with regard to strategic sustainability positioning, CSR reporting, supply chain management and stakeholder communications, including integrating sustainability into branding, packaging and marketing. He has led or advised multiple global sustainability councils and executive level business networks. At the destination level, Peter has assessed or helped develop national sustainable tourism policy and planning activities, as well as regional standards and capacity-building programs globally.
Peter also has extensive global private sector tourism expertise including eco, adventure and culture based product development, tour packaging, bundling and selling, local community capacity building, budgeting, operations, trip leadership and training, communications, overseas market access, eco-standards and sustainability integration. He has worked on international community development and conservation projects, and is a published author and recognized industry and public speaker. Peter is based out of Westport, County Mayo, Ireland and Boulder, Colorado, USA.
